Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the schedule for the on-time opening of the new Second Avenue Subway. Keeping his promise to modernize the MTA and open the subway line on time, the inaugural ride will take place on December 31st and revenue service will begin at noon on January 1 and start at 6 a.m. each day for the rest of the first week.

Governor Cuomo signed an Executive Order to boost security on Mass Transit during the holiday season. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Law Enforcement Officers will gain jurisdiction to New York's public transportation services and facilities to connect buses, ferries and other mass transit into New York City. Executive Order No. 148, was signed today to ensure public safety at traditionally targeted terrorist spots.
Mayor Bill de Blasio joined Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and NY Officials yesterday to mark the opening of the 7 train extension line, New Hudson Park and Boulevard. This new extension line will service 56,500 riders per day by 2025, driving new growth and development on the Far West Side.
