Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez today announced that a 33-year-old Brooklyn man was sentenced to 90 years to life in prison for killing three people, including a 76-year-old innocent bystander, near a New York City Housing Authority Complex in Fort Greene in September 2015.

Emergency benefits will be received this winter by approximately 2 million households this winter season by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance program.

Mayor Baraka reminds residents that a City Ordinance is in effect for Landlords as of October 1, 2015, and continuing through May 1, 2016. Landlords must provide tenants with heat at 68 degrees from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 65 degrees from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., or City inspectors will respond to tenants' complaints of no heat or hot water. New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Division of Codes and Standards has also set a bulletin with basic information about the responsibilities of landlords

Baraka has re-announced the City of Newark Ordinance starting October 1st that landlord's must to keep rental dwellings at 68 degrees beginning from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 65 degrees from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. This heating Ordinance for the City of Newark will be enforceable for heat starting October 1, 2015, and continuing through May 1, 2016 for City inspectors to respond to complaints.

Mayor Bill de Blasio joined the officials of the Arker Companies yesterday to break ground at the Beach Channel Senior Apartments in Far Rockaway, Queens. In 2017, a seen-story, mixed-use development will provide 100 percent affordability to 154 low-income seniors and 46 formerly homeless seniors in New York.
