Mayor Baraka Will Open The Fifth Center Of Hope Today

Mayor Ras Baraka will be opening the Fifth Center of Hope today, at the Clubhouse located at 205 Spruce Street, 3:30 p.m. Joining the City of Newark Mayor will be the Newark Housing Authority who will be offering a variety of athletic, arts & culture, educational, environmental, healthy living, and recreation programming to engage and empower the community.

Newark, NJ  --  The Center of Hope located in the Springfield/Belmont neighborhood within the City's Central Ward, will open their fifth Center of Hope.     Joining the Center will be Mayor Ras J. Baraka, the Newark Municipal Council, and Keith Kinard, Executive Director of the Newark Housing Authority.  

The Club House community center was shut down in the past due to neighborhood violence and misuse of the facilities, but now the Club House caters to the community by offering yoga, karate, hip hop dance, and Zumba.  In addition to the new addition of array in health & wellness programming, a boy's mentoring, fitness and art activities for seniors, coding classes, after school, and other activities will be offered to the community for the reduction of violence.
