Newark, NJ -- M&M'S World, the retail store dedicated to all things M&M'S (trademark), has opened a "pop up shop" located at 744 Broad Street, Newark, NJ temporarily designed for Newark children to take advantage of a safe Happy Halloween season. The M&M'S "pop up shop" will be distributing candy and costumes to Newark youth at no charge yesterday and Tuesday in the City of Newark retail district. The "pop up shop" will be operating between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today to connect with Newark residence as a former 1941 factory resident located at 285 Badger Avenue in Clinton Hill, as a company called "M&M Limited." What ever was left over from yesterday's giveaway is just that.
According to a press release, the former company was named for the two founders, Forrest E. Mars, Sr., and Bruce Murrie. During the World War II era, an immense demand for candy was placed upon the company and was exclusively sold to the US Army Forces with distributions in mess halls and field ration packs. The factory later moved to a bigger quarters at 200 North 12th Street in Newark were it continued until 1958, until the company moved to a bigger facility in Hackettstown, NJ. Today, "pop up shops" since 1910 are now the new store's highlights which include a Candy Wall with 22 colors of M&M'S (trademark) Chocolate Candies and a variety of flavors. Also, as an additional treat for kids is the new Star Wars-themed merchandise which includes the Red M&M'S character dressed as a firefighter to promote October's Fire Prevention Month.
