Media Advisory: President Obama To Travel To The City Of Newark To Discuss Criminal Justice Reform

President Barack Obama will travel to the City of Newark to discuss his commitment to criminal justice reform, on Monday, November 2, 2015. The President will be joined by Senator Corey Booker and Mayor Ras J. Baraka. The President's schedule is to address criminal justice reform in the area of the re-entry process of formerly-incarcerated individuals that work to put their lives back on track.

WASHINGTON, DC -- ​President Obama has announced that he will be traveling into the City of Newark, NJ to convene a roundtable discussion on criminal justice reform.  Joining the President will be Senator Corey Booker and Mayor Ras J. Baraka for a roundtable discussion at Rutgers University - Newark, Center for Law & Justice, where he will be delivering a statement.  President Obama will also visit a Integrity House, a residential facility, and afterward, the President will travel to New York, New York for a DNC event and a DCCC event.

The arrival and departure of Air Force One in Newark, NJ are open to pre-credentialed media, but closed to the public. There will be travel pool coverage of the President’s visit to Integrity House. The President’s address at Rutgers University – Newark, Center for Law & Justice is pooled for TV and open to limited pre-credentialed still photographers and correspondents. The statement will also be streamed live at whitehouse.gov/live. There will be travel pool coverage of the President’s remarks at the DNC event, and print pool coverage of the President’s remarks at the DSCC event.
